Because I’m an engineer at heart, I process everything through numbers. I did that for many years in my financial coaching business until one couple taught me that there is so much more to this story. When the wife mentioned the need to please her parents and we all saw how much it was costing them, she wept. Her husband looked at me and simply said, “Thank You. I didn’t know what was in the way of us succeeding financially. Now that I see the need to please was a large culprit, I feel confident we can make progress as a team.”
That is when I realized there is so much more beyond the numbers. It is easy to focus on the dollars and sense without tackling the beliefs, behaviors, or strongholds that got you into this situation to begin with. Since then, I’ve shifted my focus to understanding what is really holding you back.
No matter who the audience is there is always more to their financial story than meets the eye. I love helping others understand the external forces at play in the college decision process and how to overcome them to make good choices.
It invigorates me to help couples find synergy in their relationship by uncovering the past, facing the present, and dreaming about their future together. Businesses and organizations need me to help reduce the stress their employees experience with practical money tools and skills.
