I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are getting prepared for a glorious New Year!Ê Use the next few days to prepare the way for an amazing new start in 2007!

Get off to the right start!

Each year most people sit down and write out goals for the upcoming year.Ê This can be exciting yet nerve-racking at the same time.Ê New Yearâs Resolutions can fall by the wayside very early on if you donât follow a few simple rules of the goal-setting game·

1. Create SMART goals

S pecific ö Break large goals down into small pieces that pinpoint exactly what you want to achieve.Ê This helps you to stay focused.

M easurable ö Make sure you have a way to know if the goal has been accomplished using improvement measures you can calculate.

A chievable ö Review your resources and timeline to determine your level of success ahead of time.

R ealistic - Donât try to cure world hunger in 365 days!Ê Evaluate what can really be done with the time you have available.

T imebound - Always put a date on your goals!Ê You may never get started if you donât know when it should be completed.

2. Prioritize the goals so that the first one accomplished is the one you wanted the most.Ê That way you get the largest impact right away and motivation to move down your list.
3. Tell someone what you are doing.Ê Seek out a mentor, peer, or professional who can hold you accountable to the goal youâd like to achieve.
4. Celebrate!Ê Make sure to celebrate yourself for a job well done once the goal is accomplished.Ê You deserve something for all your effort and hard work!

Go to the Source!

Most of the time it is easy to begin writing down the goals you want to accomplish by simply thinking of what you didnât do in the prior year.Ê In order to truly create goals that will take you to the next level you must go to the Source in prayer.Ê By that I mean, ask God what He wants to see you accomplish before you decide what you want to do.Ê

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) states;

ãCommit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.ä

Simply put; God cares about your future in 2007 and He wants you to talk to Him about it.Ê He wants to see you succeed and prosper in your endeavors, therefore you would be remiss not to first consult Him in the plans youâd like to accomplish this year.Ê God will give you wisdom, insight, and knowledge into each situation that will prepare you ahead of time for what may come.Ê He wants your goals, dreams, and desires for you more than you want it for yourself!Ê Give your plans to God and allow Him to add His Super to your natural approach!Ê
